In general, the mixing of nonsteroidal drugs like meloxicam and drinking should not happen. The use of alcohol and these drugs can cause significant liver irritation. This change in liver function does not occur in the setting of a single alcoholic beverage but over time with multiple exposures. A single drink will probably not cause a significant impact but could increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. The take home message - limit drinking alcohol to a minimum if you drink at all.
